Special one off Wednesday night race before the A57 gets closed for 5 weeks and the bracken has a chance to grow. This has traditionally been raced as part of Summer Series, but it’s so good it deserves a proper slot. The fire break descent featured in the now legendary “Downhill Only” race series, and arguably one of the finest descents in the Peak District.

Mass start at 18:45 – it’s not an overly long course, and it’s probably more use for those further back to have an idea of the lines to follow.
Start / Finish – West end gate, SK155928

CP2 – Top of fire break SK127920
CP3 – Ruined sheep fold, SK132921
Then back to the finish. Watch out for the barbed wire fence at the bottom of the fire break – it’s easy to get a bit carried away on the descent.
Race map here, and I’ve been kind and there’s even a suggested route. The trod out the top of Fagney Plantation makes for good running, and how you choose to get there is up to you.
Bring full FRA kit and a head torch. You MUST sign in on race registration sheet, and record your time on it.
