UKA Rule 5

“In team or relay races all competitors must wear registered vests of the same design and colour of the team they are representing unless the Referee has given permission for a change to be made. NOTE 1: This Rule does not preclude the possibility of clothing being different in style between participants in the same team e.g. vests of different length, cut of sleeve or collar etc. Any team clothing should, though, still broadly correspond in colour and design notwithstanding these differences.

In all events, athletes must wear clothing which is clean, and designed and worn so as not to be objectionable. The clothing must be made of a material which is non-transparent even if wet. Athletes must not wear clothing which could impede the view of the Judges.”

The people’s flag is dirtiest brown,
It shrouded oft our winning crown,
And ere their limbs grew stiff and cold,
The mud dried in its ev’ry fold.

Then raise tha brown standard high.
Within its shade we’ll live and die,
Though road runners flinch and sneer,
We’ll keep the brown flag flying here.

Look ’round, the Welshman loves its blaze,
The sturdy Fellsman chants its praise,
In Sheffield’s vaults its hymns are sung
Keswick swells the surging throng.

Then raise tha brown standard high.
Within its shade we’ll live and die,
Though road runners flinch and sneer,
We’ll keep the brown flag flying here.

It waved above our infant might,
When all ahead seemed dark as night;
It witnessed many a deed and vow,
We must not change its colour now.

Then raise tha brown standard high.
Within its shade we’ll live and die,
Though road runners flinch and sneer,
We’ll keep the brown flag flying here.

It well recalls the triumphs past,
It gives the hope of peace at last;
The banner bright, the symbol plain,
Of human right and human gain.

Then raise tha brown standard high.
Within its shade we’ll live and die,
Though road runners flinch and sneer,
We’ll keep the brown flag flying here.

It suits today the weak and base,
Whose minds are fixed on pelf and pace
To cringe before the rich man’s frown,
And haul the sacred emblem down.

Then raise tha brown standard high.
Within its shade we’ll live and die,
Though road runners flinch and sneer,
We’ll keep the brown flag flying here.

With heads uncovered swear we all
To bear it onward till we fall;
Come dungeons dark or gallows grim,
This song shall be our parting hymn.

Then raise tha brown standard high.
Within its shade we’ll live and die,
Though road runners flinch and sneer,
We’ll keep the brown flag flying here.
