New race for 2026. Start/Finish at fixed bench in memory of Bob Fox, by seating at NW corner of Fox House pub car park. Initially west below gate-stile and north-west on footpath beside road (running on the tarmac is a hanging offence). Turn north through gate and up main track for full length of valley to Upper Burbage Bridge. Cross two streams below culverts and follow footpath south-southwest along Fiddler’s Elbow to southeast corner of Higgar Tor. Descend to footpath junction below Carl Walk, then left and due east steeply down to packhorse bridge across Burbage Brook. Cross bridge on main track, then very soon left onto trod/footpath climbing to main valley track again. Turn left onto main track and, after 100m, right (by marker post) onto braided footpath climbing to cairn at south end of Burbage Rocks. Turn right and south, then south-west, following edge path past quarry edges (beware drop to right, and don’t be tempted by contour path off to left either). When you reach unfinished stone trough, continue descending south-west on main path for 100m or so, then turn left and south along secondary track at point this crosses main track (keep an eye our for it coming in to track junction from right). Follow clear but variable track south-south-east to fence line, through two gate-stiles, then finally turning east to finish where you started. Full route on map.
Starts from 18:00 for slower runners, to 18:30 for the whippets. Special dispensations to set out earlier for the over 70s.
Please carry full FRA kit as a minimum, as well as a head torch and mobile phone in case of emergency and/or torch battery failure.
