Looking at Strava tracks, it remains unclear which is the optimum line - but there is once more no doubt whatsoever as to our winner, Tom S, who secured an unassailable series lead in celebration of his final bachelor summer series run before his nuptials next Monday.  Many congratulations Tom -  albeit absolutely no concessions will be made to you, or to your wedding guests, for missing next week’s race.  The rest of us will however make every effort to turn up late and sweaty to the Kelham Island reception (many thanks for the invite), and particularly so if Kev is paying for the beer.  

On a muggy, fly-infested evening, Jim O and Martyn J thought better of the descent to Grainfoot, whilst Tim H and Paul W demonstrated definitively that the out and back to the Salt Cellar is not the way to go.  The rest of us exchanged places in the politest way possible, with the natural order restored by the finish, and bonuses for all but two - almost certainly reflecting the fact that Tom S (in company with Simon M, Tim Ra and Eloise) had already completed two camping weekend races in the previous two days.  Good effort all round, folks.

With just two races to go, the league standings indicate eight series completers, with half a dozen others in touching distance of the hallowed eight completions.  No pressure folks, but if we can’t shift a full complement of completer’s prizes, the series organiser will be in some considerable trouble with his creative better half, who has been hard at work over the past couple of weeks crafting a substantial number of truly unique DP prizes.  

The s.o. will be out tomorrow night to assess the feasibility of reaching CP1 on next Monday’s Birchen Surprise.  If recent plantation felling has scuppered its viability, then he’ll update the description and grid references later in the week.  Watch this space.
