A note on race categories here
Export resultTwenty-eight runners pitched up for this first race of the summer series, a number which has only been bettered once in the ‘modern era’ of the race and series. The sizable field also outnumbered the total number of entrants across the whole of the 2025 series; indeed we may have had more in the Strines Inn afterwards than had raced throughout last year.
Congratulations to Tom S, whose winning time shaved nearly half a minute off the previous record set by Neil Northrop in 2015, and to Eloise Lee for leading home the women’s field. Nicky Spinks’ 2013 run may take some beating, but a number of her other women’s records may prove a little more attainable later in the series. Especially for the percentage (of winner’s time) geeks, here are the current league standings.
Next up, in a couple of Monday’s time, is the Pike Lowe Alternative - a little further north for some to travel, but the furthest north we’re going this year. It was great to see so many people out and enjoying the racing last week; here’s hoping we get a comparable turnout in a couple of weeks time for one of the more esoteric of the series’ offerings.
