104 startersFour wanderings and a stampede Part 3

The banter was getting worse. Those who had heard about Peak Forest now had the fuel of Black Rocks to add to the fire. The accusations as 1 set off for my warm up that 1 was scouting for short cuts disturbed my normally meticulous race preparation (i.e. firming up which pub were going to after the race).
The race has an unusual format, a manic descent to start followed by a flat section by the Derwent followed by an uphill to within sight of the finish. This was made all the more unusual by a herd of about 20 cows who decided to join the race daring the downhill. People were running into them, cows were jumping fences, falling over and sliding down the hill on their bellies, before again decimating the field by the river. If only I could descend like Daisy and Buttercup, but the good news was I didn\'t get lost.
