Back by popular demand!
(and not because I failed to finish the route last year)
I’ve decided to run this on a weekend again as it is too long good for a Wednesday evening. Though the route is only about 10.5km the ascent and terrain means it should not be underestimated, and you are unlikely to be challenging your 10k PB.

Please try and car share as much as possible and consider parking at Blackden layby or near Hagg Farm and walking or running to Rowlee bridge.
Signing on will be at Rowlee Bridge, but the start is across the A57 at the bottom of the road leading to Rowlee Farm.
The finish is at Rowlee Bridge.

Early start at 9:00, second wave 9:30, final wave 9:45.

Route
Start – Bottom of the track to Rowlee Farm (North of the A57, see map) – SK 15190 89222
Checkpoint 1 – Access gate / style – SK 15732 89465
Checkpoint 2 – Top of Alport Tower – SK 14109 91432
Checkpoint 3 – Cowms Knoll Trig – SK 12556 90405
Checkpoint 4 – Alport Bridge (undercross) – SK 14122 89573
Checkpoint 5 – Crookstone Knoll – SK 14507 88326
Finish – Rowlee Bridge – SK 14959 89064

A few safety points:
– Be careful crossing the A57 to get to the start
Checkpoint 4 is not a road crossing. Instead you go under the bridge. If under the bridge is impassable then cross the road. The crossing is next to the landslip traffic lights and so cars should not be traveling at high speed, but still exercise extreme caution and remember its just running, and something we do for fun.
– Care should also be taken ascending and descending Alport Tower. Be mindful of other runners and the public . Note you do not need to visit the very top of the top boulder but just the highest point of the trod.
– No biting, kicking, punching, pulling, pushing, tripping or fighting.
