18 starters, Dark Peak 50th Anniversary League, Local League 2026, No Car League 202619 starters and 18 finishers on a sweltering Wednesday evening braved the head height bracken for this year's edition of Cakes of Bread. Good to see a good variety of categories racing and a nice social group. The RO very much enjoyed the weather while waiting for everyone to finish, the thirsty runners maybe slightly less so. Overall a success with a fair bit of pub debate regarding which grouse butt people had made it to for CP1 (despite them being numbered). Unfortunately, due to the road closure in May, I had to push the race back which meant the bracken was a force to be reckoned with and therefore no records were broken. Next year it will be put on in April/May as usual to mitigate this.
