For a while the club has hosted several challenges on the website, e.g the Kinder Killer, Dozen and Heart of Darkness etc.
Currently they are all listed on a long page with all the routes, FKTs and race reports interspersed together. Though finding the route on the website no doubt does add to the contrived and esoteric nature of the challenges, I think a clearer structure with a more comprehensive listing of the various attempts would, for example, better showcase the speed of Dozen completions, and the scale of others such as the Double Dozen and Kozen.
To this end, I would like to begin collecting the various attempts people have made. There is a public spreadsheet I’ve uploaded with a page for each record. This would ideally feature the name of the runner/s, date of the attempt, time, Gender, Age Category, any written reports (To be uploaded to a seperate folder), and optionally a GPX trace or link to Strava/Attack point/Garmin/online activity. Each challenge is featured on a seperate page of the spreadsheet.
If you have attempted the challenge, or know about the attempt of some one else, no matter how quick or slow it was, please feel free to add your attempt to the spreadsheet! This will then automatically sync and show up on the website. Don’t worry if you can’t fill in all the columns, and there’s no verification for any times so take it all in good spirits!
Obviously this is entirely optional and true Dark Peak anarchists and renegades can continue to keep their records to word of mouth only. However, a more comprehensive record of times should allow for greater connection between different eras of runner as many of the challenges date back decades.
An example page for the Heart of Darkness is viewable here, pages for the rest will follow in due course.
Feedback and suggestions for improvements wanted!
