Great scene in beautiful Duddon.

The first round of the 2023 English Junior Championships was in the Duddon Valley 23rd April.

The weather was pretty ideal, it stayed stayed dry, but the conditions were typically Duddon underfoot – Boggy!

There was great running from everybody. Izzy-Mai had a storming run. Young Adrian, from Trafford (who sometimes joins Sunday runs) was first U15 boy. Which explains why he’s hard to keep up with normally! In the same race Fin finished well up, having also only just moved up an age category.

By far the best result was a lot of happy looking runners, no matter what their placings.

This one might well turn out to be the toughest one of the series. All races were near to max permitted distance and with plenty of climb. Lots of technical ground and lots of boginess, proper fell races for sure.

The races come in thick and fast from here on in.
