Dennis Knoll and the bracken!
We hear reports of both groups having a great time. Looks like everyone headed up the hill to the trig for an adventure.
Thanks to Jess, Julie, Gilly & Alenka for leading the sessions.
Summer Term
The sessions planned are:

Autumn term runs will start on 4th September.
Young Leaders
The AGM agreed to two significant proposals.
The ability to provide £10 allowance for leaders for each session.
That we should encourage a Junior Leader program to give a development path for Juniors who wish to learn more about coaching and gain new skills.
These two initiatives are fundamentally meant to fit together!
The Junior Leader program is for 15 years & older. Each week, each group will have space for a Junior leader to support the leader. This support will be matched to the experience and wishes of the Junior Leader. The development of a young leader and their involvement in sessions might look something like that set out below. There are no fixed timescales, or formalised plans this is a reasonable outline.
Initial stage
Initial sessions would involve getting used to the role, some basic group management, and ensuring nobody gets left behind.
Stage 2
Building on the group management skills. Identifying opportunities for activities. Finding out about why things make good activities & training; the part that fitness fitness & skills play.
Stage 3
Helping with planning sessions. Planning what to do and where. Learning more about training and types of activities. Understanding, types of fitness.
Stage 4 & beyond
Leading parts of the session. Creating group discussions about the session. Learning about the difference between stamina and speed. Looking at how to develop skills.
Wild Camp
The wild camp has been cancelled as nobody has stepped forward to organise it.
Junior Championships – Sedbergh
The last of this year’s junior championship race was at Sedbergh. on 3rd.
Initial reports are that it was wet, but that those in attendance had a good time.
A full report will be posted when we’ve got a bit more information & some results.
The current Challenge & Championship standings are on the Fell Junior website: http://www.felljunior.org.uk/
Next week – Blackden
Next week (10th July) is at Blackden. We are in need of some leaders. Currently we have no names in the frame.
It should be a good opportunity for the older group to get up on to the edge on the plateau.
This will be the penultimate run of the summer term.
