This week saw us back at Common Lane Open Ground. Jess led the younger (& somewhat depleted) group. Yesterday’s junior cross country & some of the Dreaded Lurgy taking their toll. Kris led the O11s group – very much not depleted; it was very large.
Nicky’s filming
Nicky Spinks was along to do some filming for the FRA’s coaching qualification. Nicky praised with the quality of the coaching on offer and the organisation making it happen.
Nicky is a stalwart of the club and has an exceptional list of mountain running achievements to her name. This year, she’s taken on the role of Coaching and Education Coordinator for the FRA and warrants all the support we can give her. Maybe we can entice her back to lead a session for us?
Volunteers for the future
The older group numbers today highlight that the Juniors set-up continues to go from strength the strength. The numbers rise inexorably. This gives us the happy problem that we are always looking for more assistants and leaders for the odd Sunday morning session. So please give some thought to whether you’d like to be involved with giving the gift of fell running & mountain skills to the next generation. It needn’t be a leap into the unknown, our current crop of leaders and coaches have a good understanding of the ins and outs of group leadership, skills development and coaching; they’d be more than happy to share these. For some of our older teens, this presents a great opportunity to do something a bit different and build some great skills of your own. Please talk to Lewis, or any of the other regular leaders, Kris, Jess, Mark W, Michael, Helen & Adam, if you’d like to find out what might be involved.
Hoppits Feb 27th
Our session on 27th Feb clashes with the Hoppits races (including Juniors). For those that want to race, I encourage you to go there. For those that aren’t up for that, we’ll return the Longshaw pole for a return to the Peak.
