As more races come along, out of the depths of winter, please help out with news and gossip from whatever you’ve been up to….
Pennine Bridleway Relay – results. 38th position. From Willy:- “ Lynn and Kev had a steady leg one (54th). Dave Bollington and I did the best we could to hang on, gaining two places (but 56th on the leg as a whole). Kirsty and Channah (46th) then beat the women’s record for leg 3, only to find the Tod women’s pair just in front had already beaten it by an additional 30 secs. Darrell and Tom Saville ran a scorching leg 4 (15th), catching Pippa and Nicky somewhat unawares at the changeover, who nonetheless brought home the baton in overall 38th position (40th on the leg). Shame Tom’ll have to wait another couple of years ’til he’s allowed to run a longer leg – damned impressive result with Darrell that. Many thanks to Lynn for organising – and for having Dave and I along for the ride.
Top day out – can’t understand why there aren’t more takers for it within the club.”
Tigger Tor :- First news from Lewis:- “A very good club turn out, as is the norm. Almost perfect conditions. Firm under foot, not too hot not to cold, no wind to speak of – even Goldylock would have struggled to pick fault. As ever well organised too, with a massive turnout. Stuart Bond won, Mick Poulter won the first Tiger Home. Prizes for Mick Stenton and Ashley Kay in the V50s. DPFR men’s teams 1st, 2nd & 3rd.” Full Results
Kendal Winter League – Birkrigg. Results. Rhys helps out with:- “Did KWL again today – a cross country course over Birkrigg. Beer-free I performed a little better on a course that didn’t play to my strengths (ie. a decent gradient!) but pleased with 3rd against a huge contingent of Helm Hill young speedsters in 18.50 for the 3 miles with 500 feet climb! Only me there again.”
Blakes Heaven, up in’t Lakes. Mike sends:- “A glorious day here in the Lakes today, Callum had a really good run, 2nd place.” Mike was 10th.

Lewis has received this from the organiser:- "Hopefully you will have picked up the fact that we are treating runners with a little more respect than we might have done previously at ShAFF this year and we have a decent line-up of running events! It’d be much appreciated if you could help spread the word. Tickets went on sale today and the trailer is doing very well on Youtube (http://www.shaff.co.uk/content/11/watch-trailer). "
and adds:- “I thoroughly recommend taking in at least one of the sessions. This year there is a running specific selection of films. 4th – 6th March. So if you’re not whacked out after the High Peak Marathon its something to consider.”
