Thanks to everyone who commented on this retrospective planning application. You may be wondering why it disappeared from the planning website – this is what I know:
Peak Park planning authority have extensive powers and their own set of procedures for how to deal with situations like this. They have obviously been concerned about road and track building in the national park and have produced a set of guidance for landowners, which pretty much says no new tracks will be allowed in normal circumstances. But there are some tracks which have been constructed recently and Midhope/Mickleden is one of these.
The retrospective planning application was withdrawn because after a site visit it obviously did not reflect what had actually been constructed on the ground. Many comments highlighted this.
I think we all need to read between the lines here but it is possible another application will be submitted or maybe that the landowner will have to remove the track and put right the land. This latter option seems most likely at the moment but will not happen overnight.
All the objections you have written have made clear the public interest in protecting our moors from eyesores such as this and have strengthened the resolve of the authorities to act.
