This made Tim Tett laugh so it’s got to be worth a post 🙂

Dear Dark Peak Fell Runners Club,

I hope this email finds you well. Myself and a colleague at Sheffield Hallam University, are currently running a sports science research study in which we are investigating the influence of music on middle-distance running performance. We believe that certain types of music may have performance enhancing effects over others which, if proven correct, could have a big impact on the way music is incorporated in training. We are looking for strong middle-long distance runners (800 m upwards), male, between the ages of 18 – 40 y to participate in our research. The commitment required is fairly minimal and may provide a good forum for controlled training, and each runner will get a free VO2max test in our laboratory (valued at £80) and individualised feedback from an accredited physiologist on their max data and gas exchange thresholds. Once testing is completed, athletes and coaches can obtain full details on performance within each session which may help influence training practices. We are only looking for 8 – 10 athletes to participate in this study and so spaces are limited, and testing would take place over August and September. If you would like more information, an informal chat, or to sign up for the study, please contact me as soon as possible on the contact details below. Thanks for your time, I look forwards to hearing from you soon
