13 hardy souls assembled for this Dark Peak classic. There was snow on the ground, mist in the air and bog aplenty – the connoisseurs thought that conditions were pretty much ideal. Considerable rainfall over recent days topped up with snowmelt meant that the two crossings of Abbey Brook added a little spice to proceedings. (Quite a bit of spice for one runner.) As is always the case with this race a variety of route choices were deployed (with varying degrees of success). Much to the relief of the race organiser, everyone made it back to Fairholmes pretty much unscathed, having enjoyed an adventurous winter outing.
