Export resultImagine the series organiser’s disappointment when the alleged-to-be-female Torin on the sign-in sheet turned out, in due course, to be distinctly male, albeit running his first ever Winter Mondays. On the positive side, however, Torin promises to do his best to persuade his better half to join us at a future race; just two runs will see her knocking the mythical Spinks off top spot. Meanwhile, Andy B was also out for his first run of the series, bringing entrants for the year to thirty-one; and the R.O., returning the navigational favour which Andy had meted him out at the club champs, led both runners badly astray off Higgar Tor - albeit Andy recognised my error significantly earlier than did I. To be fair to all concerned, however, it was as thick as two concrete bags tonight, with almost everyone reporting a resultant navigational or two.
In the absence of Tom, Harry, James or Jack, it was a first win of the year for Paul, and bonuses all round for everyone but our two newbies, and a somewhat bedraggled Chris. Not that this prevented Chris, nor George, from gaining three places each in the league standings, with the middling Yates now claiming the lofty heights of third place overall in the league, and breathing down the still regrettably absent Martyn’s neck (to whom, our very best wishes).
Next week we’re back at Bolsterstone for the penultimate, and longest, road race of the year, to Bar Dyke and beyond.
