Keith reports good clear conditions, with most of the snow and ice melted, except for a few ‘frozen peat ruts and then deep soggy peat’ on the transit over to Dukes Road.  He also casts a certain amount of doubt on the credibility of Simon B’s winning second, before providing an answer to the riddle of Jim O’s consistent racing results.  Jim always declares a time in whole minutes since he (allegedly) ‘still cannot afford a watch that does seconds’.  Meanwhile Darren, in the best traditions of this route, ‘messed up the last bit’.

Whilst it’s always refreshing to receive such a back-end-centric report, we should also acknowledge that Jack Walwyn not only restored the natural order of things by beating his dad but, in so doing, also took the overall victory.  Looking back through past series records (a task which is becoming something of a labour of love for the new series organiser at present), I suspect this might very well make Jack the youngest race winner in the past twenty years of racing, with Tom S’s first victory seeming to fall in the 2010/11 series, when I think he must already have been somewhat older than the aforementioned Walwyn scion.  Many congratulations, young master Jack!  

Your R.O. expects to be back on the roads in Bolsterstone next Monday for the Wigtwizzle Reverse, carrying several extra pounds following a brief - and refreshingly idle - holiday in sunnier climes.  If Simon D turns up, he will surely achieve the summit of the league standings.  If not, then either George or Kerry have a fighting chance of doing so (particularly if Martyn cries off again).  Hope to see many of you then.
