Notwithstanding Messrs Orrell and Winterburn’s dire warnings of the hazards awaiting those foolhardy enough to brave the icy, snowy conditions ‘up the clough’ this year, fourteen bravely foolhardy souls completed the circuit of Win Hill and attendant woods on a crisp, starry night, with more navigational errors in evidence than tumbles on the ice (only Barry admitting to the latter on his ascent of the eponymous clough).  Despite overshooting the entrance to the woods, Tom still recorded a new ‘fastest known time’ for the route on race day; albeit the aforementioned error no doubt contributed to all of the first eight runners achieving bonuses too, together with Keith, navigating his own idiosyncratic circuit starting from the top of the dam wall.  Martyn was one of a number of runners to go wrong, resulting in his second poorest result of the series to date, but still did enough to reclaim top spot in the league standings from Kev.
