We were blessed with classic winter Crashout conditions, thick fog and slippy bog, plus the presence of Lova who usually resides in Germany.
As we are an inclusive club, a special Crashout map was produced in German to make the navigation of this unfamiliar land easier and more accessible for our visitor.
A total of 16 runners attended the Winter Crookstone Crashout International, and everyone returned. This was despite the ruin at checkpoint 4 not really existing anymore. I think everyone was warned at the start that this might be the case and I think everyone ran through roughly were it should be. It might not feature again unless it is rebuilt a little or marked in some other way. The rest of the route provided some typically Dark Peak terrain bashing and a good amount of route choice across the plateau.
I just about managed to win my own race, and Tom Brunt ran away with the Eric Mitchell handicap trophy again.
A social debrief over a pint in the Yorkshire Bridge Inn rounded off the morning.
