Confusion -15 April 2026
The Serious Warts had decided that this week’s venue was to be Strines at 5pm but, in the meantime, we were told that DPFR were reviving the Way Out West race as part of the Read more
A whole 10 starters attended to display their affection towards a small selection of landmarks within the Rivelin Valley. The 6:30 grand depart saw runner disperse from Tha Sportsmen in a range of directions as the out of bounds areas opened up new possibilities as to which order checkpoints were visited. This could have included some sort of figure of eight route resulting in one runner covering over 15km!
Another poor outcome for the race organiser in his own race, with cramp resulting in a DNF. Though in my defence I did make it to Wyming Brook knoll for its yearly check that it does, in fact, still exist along with the relic that is (was) a Hawleys Tyres and Exhausts T-shirt.
Prizes included: Whittard mango and bergamot tea bags, Only Curls hydrating hair moisturiser, Champneys Health Spa moisturising face mask, Mr Perfect shaving moisturiser, and Mr Perfect body spray.
Thank you all who attended!

The Ballad of Wyming Brook Knoll
In the heart of Rivelin's embrace,
Where love and landmarks interlace,
Ten runners brave, their hearts alight,
Set forth to conquer the twilight.A rendezvous at Sportsmen's door,
Their passion for the trails they bore,
With grand depart at 6:30 sharp,
Their love for running sparked. In Rivelin's vale, they spread afar,
Each seeking love beneath the stars,
In boundless bounds, they charted their flight,
Chasing dreams in the fading light. But fate, unkind, did intervene,
For one, the organiser unseen,
Caught in cramp's relentless grip,
A DNF upon his lip.Yet still, he reached Wyming Brook's knoll,
Where relics of the past console,
A Hawleys T-shirt, worn with pride,
A testament to love that never died.Prizes, tokens of affection sweet,
Awaited those with weary feet,
Whittard's tea, a fragrant brew,
For moments shared, for me and you.And Only Curls, with tender care,
To soothe the windswept, tangled hair,
Champneys mask, a lover's balm,
To keep our skin forever calm. With Mr. Perfect by our side,
In shaving balm, in body glide,
We set our hearts to run anew,
In Rivelin's vale, where love rings true.So thank you all who shared this night,
In Rivelin's glow, beneath moonlight,
For in our hearts, forevermore,
The love of running shall endure.
