10 starters, Dark Peak Races League

With the temperature cresting 50F and rain abating you might think this far from a winter challenge, however Storm Otto continued to blow and the ascent of Dean hill was ferocious. A steadfast cohort of 10 set off in 3 groups, with real purists and regulars gracing this challenging course that is, without question worthy of the title.
Going anti clockwise meant that there were 2 significant and long climbs on the route as well as 2/3 shorter ones, with a long run off from Madwoman.
Tom broke the record and with a less severe wind would have gone much faster, Bracken was less of an issue than the summer. He was chased home by Pete and Adam did well from the duo who set off in the middle group. Tim and Roger were nip and tuck at CPs despite different route choices. Well done all Olympians and shame on those washing their hair or curling up in bed. The next in the series will be to link with Paris in summer 2024.
