Rivelin Enduro on Fri 1st Apr 2022

11 starters, Dark Peak Races League

After many months of build-up the inaugral Rivelin Enduro took place on turbulent Friday night at the start of April. A small elite entry of 8 runners gathered at the sportsman and departed together as the first snowflakes fell. A few minutes later Phil arrived (and never managed to find the group) and John Boyle avoided everyone running the race despite his best efforts. Better luck next time chaps.

Onto the running, participants enjoyed 4 varied sections, steep, flowy, slippery and rocky so the winner had to be a master of all the terrain Rivelin has to offer. Thomas Milton came out on top this year after Tim Rutter failed to find the last punch at the bottom of Wyming Brook. Milton's victory came to the surprise of firstly himself and especially those who subsequently witnessed his descent of Halls fell the next day. It wasn't pretty to say the least. For the women, Despina Berdeni was ahead of a recently hospitalised Madeline Davies. Most importantly everyone had a lot of fun running on their favourite paths in Rivelin.
There are talks of running a summer/autumn enduro and of course the race will return in its traditional early spring slot next year. By which point we hope that Tesco has resolved its supply chain issues and there will be plentiful supply of both mini poppadoms and wasabi peas.
