23 starters, Dark Peak Races League

Rupert Allison and Emily Barnett were clear winners of this, the first Dark Peak Races League race of 2021. The course records of Neil Northrop (1:23:45) and Judith Jepson (1:50:23), that were both set in the 2017 Club Champs, still stand. As is often the case with these TT races, conditions changed during the week with 3" of snow for some and perfect going for others.

2 Neil Northrop Dark Peak MSEN 01:30:44 Not expecting the 3 inches of snow!
3 Mike Nolan Dark Peak M50 01:34:25 A poor man who can't win his own race.
4 Tim Rutter Dark Peak M40 01:34:50 Hit the deck twice in rapid succession, need to stop running in clown shoes.
5 Stu Reid Dark Peak M40 01:56:41 Special prize for 10cm snow on the tops? Amazing contrast from last years run on a hot sunny day!
6 Mike Annett Dark Peak M55 01:57:58
7 Eliot Waterhouse Dark Peak MSEN 02:02:39 Lovely route, but I can tell I haven't been running much over winter. Loved the path beside Bretton Brook all the way down - tough going to duck under all the branches.
8 Jim Paxman Dark Peak M60 02:03:33 A couple of better lines than last year brought my time down by over 5 minutes.
9 Nick Kirk Dark Peak M50 02:06:06 Local knowledge is an advantage, particularly in Bretton Clough. Unfortunately not fit enough at the moment and sat down for food and drink in Bretton Clough before I fell down!
10 Tim Mackey Dark Peak M65 02:08:58 The climb back up to the trig in the teeth of a force 8 can be classed as cruel and unusual punishment
11 Mark Bush Dark Peak M45 02:13:01
12 Mick Cochrane Dark Peak M70 02:15:21
13 Dave Arundale Dark Peak M65 02:18:35 Good line off the stone circle (but would not necessarily work in the summer) and definitely benefitted from the lower end of Bretton Clough recce resulting in a much better time than the 2017 champs of 2:34:31
15 Martyn Jones Dark Peak M45 02:19:41 Messed up cp 1, came off path too early and thrashed around for about 5 mins. Eventually found it and got a good line off down to above mill wood.
16 Ken Jones Dark Peak M70 02:21:02 I was going well until I pulled a hamstring in Bretton Clough and struggled back on the long uphill. Doesn’t bode well for my intended outing this week on the Killer.
17 Drew Chester Dark Peak M50 02:21:12 A few iOrienteering hiccups.
18 Guy Ward Dark Peak MSEN 02:23:54 First TT with the club, great to finally meet and trundle round with some of you!
19 Michael Arundale Dark Peak M65 02:31:03 Much better than last summer - no bracken down from the stone circle, and an improved route down Bretton Clough. Bit windy up to the mast.
20 Bob Bryan Dark Peak M65 02:41:10
