JOHN EDWARDS – A short remembrance
It was with great sadness that I heard of John’s death in March. He was a distinguished “character” in the Dark Peak Fell Runners as evident by the soubriquets he was given, Gentleman John, Squire Read more
It was a gorgeous day, as the sunny dry weather stretched on. That meant fast going underfoot, but Tom's recent injury ruled out any serious attack on the 21'14" course record that Neil set last year. Uncannily, Tom and Tim Rutter went round separately but in exactly the same time, finishing joint winners. Tom's dad and the race organiser also managed to finish with only a second between them. The course was again compromised by some unhelpful wanderer who decided for reasons best known to themselves to remove all the marker tapes from the first climb. That doesn't excuse Kris Groom, who wandered off-route on a well-taped section, missed out control four and then had to go round again. Thanks to everyone for coming. Same time, same place next year.
