A goodly number of Brown Vests enjoyed a slightly extended race route, with improved start and finish, which added roughly a mile to proceedings on a damp and periodically claggy day in Snowdonia. Greasy rock in the first half of the race made conditions challenging underfoot, with John Hunt securing a very impressive victory after he slipped in a wood in the final mile, acquiring a hole in his knee which required 11 stitches in Bangor A&E, but not before he'd picked himself up and out-sprinted his nearest rival. Bob Johnston took home the MV40 prize, though rather disappointingly there was no team prize on offer, which we would certainly have laid claim to otherwise.
It remains a complete mystery however why this finest of AL races continues to attract such a small field.
