53 startersThe race was based out of Elphin, near Ullapool. Being April, the previous week of balmy weather was replaced with hail and snow for the event itself. Good courses for the score class included many choices about up, over, or round mountains, guess your terrain - including un-runnable peat hags, unfindable tracks, slippery rock, delightful soft grass and familiar heather - and some additional complexities on day two with lochs and lochans; potentially limiting options and constraining route the the finish.
