On a glorious clear and fresh night Neil sped away to win the race by over 6 minutes, although times were generally faster than last year Neil's run on a testing first half suggests he could well have gone under 40 minutes on the traditional route and put Malcolm's record under threat.

You never know the original could be dusted off if enough interest is shown, otherwise a sweep to the North could make the planners map. The beauty of the current route allows uncertainty, and variations in trying to head for Howshaw Tor, which is hidden until the Lost Lad col is breached.

[P.S. The organiser wished to disqualify Clare, Sarah and Penny for "holding hands", but I have been unable to find it in the FRA - or even UKA - rulebook, so he is out of luck].
