Betws Bash
A move from Malham to Betws-y-coed this year allowed for the creation of a new race. Finding open fell within running distance of the accommodation made the course setting difficult. However I made a stab at creating a reasonable loop with ‘mostly’ obvious checkpoints including a large Waterfall, the Miners Bridge, the Monument adjacent to Llyn Elsi reservoir and a foot suspension bridge.
Unfortunately the unprecedented overnight rain meant the miners footbridge was impassable and some re-planning was required.
The myriad of tracks and paths on the ground within the forest vs the OS map was for some difficult to interpret. Those reasonably proficient in map reading appeared to have fewer problems, but I’ll see if we can get a more up to date map next time. Anyway it didn't seem to hinder Moz's air guitar skills in the early hours!
