Burbage Skyline on Tue 8th May 2012

Another record field of 379 runners all hopefully enjoyed a cool evening with some dark clouds that threatened rain but thankfully never delivered it. The club gazebo/tent thus remained secure in the van whilst a fantastic variety of runners hurtled themselves around a course this year described as boggy in places but generally fast. A very competitive race saw Rob Little take a great first win just ahead of Neil with Helen making it three wins in a row and Mick again taking V50 honours for the club. Also a mention for young Tom Saville who with another top ten placing confirms his continuing status.

A fantastic number of club members helping out meant that the race went off without incident and it was great seeing so many people enjoying themselves
Thanks go to all of these helpers but especially to John, Fitzy, Les, Pete and Ann for swiftly registering and placing everyone and to Bob, Tom & Richard for managing a very hectic and at times animated finish all done with courtesy and humour
Finally there wasn’t much of a sunset to report this year but Tom did claim a number of unsubstantiated woodcock sightings and after a few contemplative pints of Black Sheep the evening’s proceedings were finally over. With continuing gratitude to Wayne at the Fox for again letting us take over his pub for the night
