It was apparent during the walk to the start that a number of the field were suffering somewhat from the after effects of the whisky tasting the night before.  That said 39 runners competed over the classic course in changeable weather.  Unfortunately no one had told the farmer we were racing and as a consequence the field was split on the way up to Monsal Head by a herd of cows.  Rumour has it that some in the front group actively encouraged the farmer to let his cows out of the field at a strategically opportune moment, questions may well be asked!

No one really went walk about, apart from the finishing marshals who were delayed by a large pot of tea in the cafe and didn't arrive before the first few runners had finished in the river.  A fine race which was complemented by a junior fell race later in the day and a cyclo cross event on Sunday morning.  

Thanks to Kirsty and the gang for organising such a fine weekend, her dad for the excellent whisky on Friday night and Norton Wheelers 'Dark Peak' contingent for laying on the cyclo cross on the Sunday – a great weekend again.
