174 starters, Local LeagueOnly me & Rob flying the Dark Peak flag together with an equally low turn out from any other local club which was suprising given what a fantastic race it is. Fast running throughout on grassy fields, farm tracks & forest trails with a lap of Windgather Rocks at halfway winding you up for a virtual sprint back, culminating with the 'unusual' finish, and what a finish - eat you heart out Grindleford. This is an in over your head (for some) plunge into the local river. Worth being on the start line just to see the look on the first timers faces, when they heard the organiser announce that the water was only 4ft deep in parts, but still quite warm! The finishes were all video'd and are well worth a look ranging from the timid 'hanging onto the rope' approach to the brain out waterbombing.
Great fun, great race. http://www.goytvalleystriders.org.uk/pages/waltz.html
174 ran - none drowned, at least 2 swam.
