There was some good fun to be had, great skylines, runners taking a variety of routes to the railway bridge-and a myriad of alternatives back up to Mam Tor.
Crowson turned up with something resembling a treasure map, with a cross on a scrap of an envelope, and then his torch gave up. The club sec, as befits a man of stature in the club, and world of business [see Sheffield Telegraph] threw himself off Mam Tor on the way back -sparing the club editor[??] having to issue an obituary,by luck and the gods. The torches up the last hill were magical. It's worth a re-run next year - maybe with fewer restrictions!
