30 startersA beautiful late spring evening for this classic race. 10 brave souls ran the full 4 springs, the rest, perhaps fearing being left out in the dark after Dave Holmes dire warning, ran 3 springs, most of them missing the spring under Noe Stool. Moz ran a slightly reduced version of the 3 springs, and Willy failed to make best use of his weekend recce and eventually visited 2 springs. Perhaps he took it to heart when he was told that "knowing where you are is not in the spirit of Dark Peak racing".

Alternatively, perhaps I shouldn't have been so naive as to take the safety officer at face value when, observing Mark and Andy Harmer arriving from my right, I was advised that only the SO and Andy H had visited the genuine spring two ... see my GPS track for the sorry tale writ large. WK
