I’m not sure how many people on this earth owe their sanity and freedom to Pete Dyke and Les Unwin, but with 10 minutes to the start and with folk still queuing halfway across the Fox car park I knew then that I would be one of them! After surviving fell runnings equivalent of an entry tsunami and still being able to account for every one of the 324 entries and 323 starters is a tribute to them but also to every single person present on the day, not least the runners.
Needless to say I’ll be buying people beer for weeks after this one
Stuart got to keep Andy’s miniature statue of me and Helen becomes a superb new winner of the communal whisky trough.
And a final tribute from the bar team….we drank their tiger ale barrel dry!
