Export resultRound Rotherham Run on Sat 27th Dec 1986
Organised by Rotherham Harriers, this run covers some of the more'spectacular' scenery in S Yorkshire as it follows the boundary of Rotherham. This year mud was to make things heavy going with your feet becoming suddenly four pounds heavier within yards of entering each ploughed field. Weather conditions were quite good for running- overcast, a few short showers and a strong cool wind.
The lead was a contest between Andy Forsyth and Terry Edmondson (English 24 hour record holder form Chorley AC) with Terry opening up a lead of about 6 minutes with some four miles to go. Unfortunately, Terry made a navigational error which sent him to the Sheffield side of Tinsley Viaduct before finding the finish at Tinsley School to discover that Andy had arrived some 6 minutes previously. There were 52 starters and 28 finishers, one of whom was Caroline Boyd from Rotherham Harriers, the first lady ever to complete the course.
