29 startersOn a pleasant evening, a goodly mixture of stalwarts turned out for the 4th summer frolic over the traditional course. Young Paul Tomlinson established a junior record(!) questing in a Penistone vest and Dave Cartwright, also from Penistone, leading to Madwomens Stones, broke the veterans record. Despite very heavy conditions on top, Graham Berry put up a valiant effort to hold onto his record and was only 20 sees out at the finish- Andy Bell, only 2 weeks away from his superb Saunders, beat off a very slugggish Bob Berzin.
Clare Crofts broke the womens record but the record held by Male Patterson was well safe as Andy Moffatt and Andy Barrett chased Andy Harmer to Madwomens, only to let the latter crash down the hill to hold them off in a slowish time. Dave Mosely fresh(?!) from the Bob Graham days earlier came down the hill in determined state but most of his pacers and camp followers were already munching the strawberries and basking in one of the few summer evenings.
All being well, the Winter version will be held on Sunday December 20th at 10.30 a.m.
