Howgills. All courses are score events, Elite get 7 hours/6 hours, all others 6 hours/5 hours.
It may be a family affair (what with Rich organising it, numerous members of the family helping out and me running it) but I have to say that this years RAB MM was a cracker! The weather was fantastic with wall to wall sunshine on Saturday following a foggy early morning start. Sunday was overcast, some clag on the tops and with a bit of a breeze making it better for running. The courses were excellently planned and challenging with lots of scope for route choice - most of which involved a slog up one of the numerous steep sided valleys! The overnight camp on a nice dry grassy field (next to the Cross Keys Temperance Inn) was just a small car journey up the road from the start in Sedbergh but about a 26 mile journey for the Elite runners (and probably not much less for everybody else). Day 2 was a return trek over much of the same ground from the previous day but with some dummy controls thrown in meaning that route planning the night before was pointless. Lots of Dark Peakers competing and some good results in all classes. Dave and I used it as a warm up for the OMM but wished we hadn’t shown Stewart Bellamy where 3 controls were that had rubbed off his map – it cost us 3rd place!
