162 startersThis was a particularly enjoyable race for me as not only did I win but also broke the course record. Having just returned from ten days of intense orienteering in Czechoslovakia in temperatures well into the thirties I was surprised to feel so good. Billy Minto had me worried early on as he took the lead on first climb, the only other worries were about being on the course or not, which was well marked where it wasn't needed and sparsely marked where it was needed!

The course was interesting as it wasn't just one big up-and-down, but a number of small climbs and descents through pleasant terrain and runnable all the way. I'll certainly make every effort to defend my title next year. Dark Peak easily took the team title with 1st, 3rd and 5th and most of the prizes - Andy 1st Vet, Wendy 1st lady, Ann 1st female veteran (and 2nd lady).
