Roger Baumeister, always one to savour the wilderness experience, was spotted on Great Knoutberry Hill with headphones clamped on listening to the FA Cup Final en route.
Steady pacing and regular eating seem to be the key to the Fellsman, as indeed they are to any long event. A thin Dark Peak turn out this year was rather disappointing. If you fancy a good long day on the hills next May, at 61 miles and 11,000' this event with its thorough organisation and excellent route is well worth a try.
