In the absence of the top brass, the travelling MV40 also-rans took the opportunity to chalk up a team score three and a half times their combined ages - but boy did we enjoy the panoramic views on the way around ... and the final descent from Shipman Knotts was lots of fun too.

We stumbled upon the home of Wilf's Cafe and the Hawkeshead Brewery in Staveley en route to the start line, though it's debatable whether the very fine sausage and bacon sandwiches were ideal preparation for the race. Wild horses aren't likely to keep us from making a return trip to this one some time soonish.
