Export resultCressbrook Crawl on Sat 10th May 2008
120 starters, Local LeagueThis is a boss event, get it in your diaries for next year, like 24 Dark Peakers already have. Start & Finish is at the Cressbrook Social club. From here, go uphill and then turn left down a good descent to the river Wye, up onto the Monsal trail, then a good climb up the hill ahead, along a bit of road and a track then the race joins the Thornbridge race route. At the A6 the route goes back towards the viaduct, along the Monsal trail again, over the bridge past Cressbrook Mill, then a ball-aching, airless climb back up the road to the Social club. The organisers, High Peak Tripe Club have a BBQ on and you can exchange your number for a free pint of Peak Ale made from the Duke of Devonshire’s own water. Good prizelist, good fun, and all for four quid. It was just the job for a Saturday morning, but biking from Sheffield, racing (sort of), three pints and biking back on the hottest day of the year did not seem such a good idea as we climbed the hill back to Owler Bar.
