Peris Horseshoe on Sat 26th Sep 1992

191 startersThe Peris Horseshoe is a brilliant race but the first climb
is very strange. 190 runners scrambling up a 3000 foot slate
quarry made it echo with sound as in Victorian times. The first
control was easily located as the marshal was ringing a hand bell
to help you find him [ed. can we use this on next years club
champs please?]. Eight controls followed with navigational skills
useful but not too difficult as even I managed to find the right
route off Glyder Fawr to Pen-y-Pass.
The support was good with a nice trophy to each finisher,
well worth a two and a half hour drive.
