New Chew on Sun 7th Mar 1993

Replacing the old Chew Valley Skyline, this is an event for the connoisseur. The set courses involve a series of checkpoints which can be visited in any order whilst the Score is similar to the Karrimor score with checkpoints carrying various points tallies and time limited to 3.5 hours. On the \'Longish\' course Bob Berzins opted for the same route as the winner as did Will McLewin on the \'Not As Long\' course. Mike Browell and I chose similar routes in the score with a furthest point well down Crowden Great Brook Valley below Laddow Rocks but I was more ambitious on the return, sacrificing time penalty points for a couple of awkward checkpoints. In retrospect, Mike made a better choice though I still just beat him. Neil Goldsmith chose a very different route which was, presumably, less successful. Low key perhaps but this was a thoroughly enjoyable avent and highly recommended.
