88 startersA fine dry day. though there was enough cloudon Scoat Fell to make me get my compass out after a disastrous mistake here two years ago. There was a cozy small field, though I know the organizers would Iike a few more. It seems everybody’s interested in soft routes in their own back yards these days than the traditional classics. Bob and Roger had good runs breaking the 4.5 hour barrier. I had a middling run and didn\'t, and it was good to see Neil Piper back competition in the fells.
