Export resultLoxley International Mountain Marathon on Sun 17th Feb 2008
33 startersThe conditions for the day were excellent. A cold frost was on the ground and remained in the shadows all day but it was a full day of warm sunshine and with very little wind which made it a surprisingly warm day for February. There were three people who made the whole 20 points and nobody lost a single point for being late. The high scorers seemed to choose a clockwise route which gave them the harder, longer, remote controls first. The remainder chose a anti-clockwise route which while pleasant was unlikely to offer temptation for the remote controls late in the day. There were the usual problems with a couple of controls. The stone circle at Ash Cabin Flat which I have since looked up and found the grid reference of SK 2693 8625 and is described as being damaged 4.5 x 5.5m ring. The other difficult control was The stone trough. This is on a holloway that crosses the boundary stones path. This holloway can be seen easily on Google Earth if anyone wants to check it out. The stone trough can also be seen about 100m from the path but it is a very small feature.
One minor problem seems to be that the whisky bottle at Blackholes was not put away. Fortunately John Gunnee and myself both have the day off Monday so we are going to make a post race inspection in the morning.

Phil Cox & Peter Gorvett added after they ran on Sat 23rd in poorer conditions. They found the stone circle at Ash Cabin Flat at the new grid ref without difficulty.
