As usual there were some incredibly quick times for the circuit especially from Al Ward, gaining a full ten minutes over Gavin. One or two people cut out a checkpoint or two in order to get to the Nags Head in reasonable time to get some drinking done.
There is always some debate as to whether it is a run or a race, but as everybody is concerned about their time, then it should probably be considered as a race. If this is to be the case then special rules from the Dark Peak handbook under \"Race Organiser’s Decisions\" must be invoked. Rule 48 sect 2b states that in the case of an ambiguous checkpoint the Organiser’s decision is final. In the case of the second checkpoint down Blackden Brook it was stated at the pre race amble that the checkpoint was in fact a stile over a boundary fence down the river by the stream and a stone wall. Several runners chose to ignore this and insisted on calling the sheepfold, further upstream, or even the holly bush further up the wall from the sheepfold as the second checkpoint. This was not the case. As a result of this blatant ignoring a checkpoint, all runners apart from Tom Westgate, Steve Martin and Myself were disqualified.
All times still stand and can be compared to previous and future events, but the race winner is Tom Westgate ( M45). First M55 is Moz. This result is in keeping with the handbook ruling stating that \"it is a poor man that cannot win his own race\".
