Export resultLake District Mountain Trial on Sun 13th Sep 1998
This event has been aptly described as the \'Fellrunners MOT\' and as such it constitutes one of the best and most challenging events in the calendar. Unfortunately on the evidence of the turnout this year with only 97 runners starting the men\'s trial there are a diminishing number of runners either willing or able to put themselves in for the test. Only a handful of Dark Peak stalwarts made the trip to Wasdale however they were rewarded with excellent weather on the day and a tough but well planned course. This year saw the introduction of a shorter open event aimed at attracting younger or novice runners (Andy Bell, Jeff Harrison??).
This year the trial did not have a sponsor and it is to be hoped that this historic event continues in future. With the low turnout however doubts must exist. So why not make a date in your diary for next year 12th September 1999, you never know you might even pass your MOT!.
