Burbage Skyline on Wed 27th May 1998

164 startersPuzzles: The FRA calendar said 19:00, Dark. Peak News said 19:30. And why \"Fox House Field (not car park)\"?

Mike was right about the time, so a lot of people did more warming up than usual. However, the Fox House now discourages walkers fell runners and that sort of riff-raff and even the field couldn\'t be used. So the car parking arrangements were non-existent. Registration was at the Start/Finish and parking was wherever you could along the A625 (this race took place before the A625 migrated South to go through Calver Cross roads now that the Department of Transport has at last realised that the road past Mam Tor will never be rebuilt).

It\'s one of the best local races, with enough rough stuff and climb combining with the steep descent off Higger Tor to make it a real fell race. It always seems more climb than you expect from the bottom of Higger Tor to Upper Burbage Bridge and then there\'s still more to get to the top of Burbage Rocks. Steve missed out in a sprint finish, 3rd place, but only 2 seconds down.
