Burbage Nuts on Sun 17th Jan 1999

33 startersAnother good turn out for this race over familiar terrain on a very cold, clear morning. Times were slower for most people because of the headwind and the very wet conditions under foot, not to speak of the ice. The first ten runners were within about two minutes of each other which suggests there was either too much talking or the competition was fierce. 1 should say a special thank you to Howard Swindells for not troubling the organiser, and getting himself home inspite of having broken a rib and punctured his thorax, because I do enjoy the Bass in the Norfolk Arms!

1 am pleased to report that Howard is almost fully recovered, after three days in hospital. Thank you to Marilyn Small for acting as timekeeper.
